Sending in Artwork

There are four ways to send us your artwork:

1. File Transfer Site

2. Camera-ready artwork

3. Disk.

4. E-mail.

Remember, if you send your artwork via disk or e-mail, we must have a print-out (preferably from a laser printer) showing what the artwork looks like, position and color breaks.*

Mail artwork to:

*We cannot guarantee accurate printing from digital artwork if you do not provide us with a hard copy that shows position, color breaks, text layout, fonts, etc. If you need assistance, please call us at 888-365-3377.

Artwork Requirements

(If the terms or requirements listed below are foreign to you, a local service bureau can help you put your artwork together correctly. Otherwise, you can call us for assistance at 888-365-3377.)

Camera-Ready

To reproduce your custom logos, we need to have clean, crisp, black and white artwork. Photocopies or faxed copies will not reproduce well. Artwork with rough edges or other imperfections will reproduce exactly as it looks. The same is true for artwork that is taped over, folded, or stapled. Remember, what you send us is what you will get. Logos that are to be printed in two colors must be sent in with the colors separated if they touch each other. Make sure your camera-ready artwork is properly positioned. If it isn't, send a mock-up or include positioning instructions.

Disk

Disks must be accompanied by print-outs (preferably laser) showing position and color breaks.

1. Disks must be Macintosh or Macintosh-compatible.

2. Usable programs include: QuarkXPress, InDesign, Illustrator, Freehand, and Photoshop. Artwork set up in word processing programs such as Microsoft Word are not usable and this artwork will have to be sent in as camera-ready or film.

3. All fonts that are used must be included on the disk. Please do not assume we have the same fonts you do. If you are using Illustrator or Freehand, you have the option of converting all fonts to paths (or outlines) which, if not too cumbersome, we do recommend. If your fonts are not included, this will delay your production.

4. Include all files used. All graphics files (including tiffs, jpegs, eps's, etc.) and all layout files must be included on the disk. Original graphics files are imperative. If there is a problem with your copy or colors, we will most likely be unable to fix it without the original file.

5. Color your images correctly. For example, do not send in full-color pictures for a one-color folder. If we have to fix your colors (or if we can't fix your colors), this may delay your production.

Tip: Set up your artwork in a file that is the correct size so you can see exactly how it will look on the final product. For example, artwork set up in an 8 1/2 x 11 file won't look quite the same when printed on a 9 x 12 folder. Also, your correct positioning will make it easier for us to produce the product you want.

E-mail

All disk requirements apply to e-mail. You must also fax print-outs showing positioning and color breaks.

E-mail is tricky and files frequently do not come through the process intact. We will check your e-mailed files and call you if there are any problems. The following is our suggestion for successful e-mailing of artwork. If you do not have the capability for this procedure, you might be better off simply sending a disk. You can always try sending e-mail first and then send a disk if the e-mail doesn't work.

1. Create a folder and place all your files inside. Give the folder your company name so we can recognize it easily.

2. Using a compression utility (preferably Stuffit Deluxe), compress the folder. You can save it as a self-extracting archive or simply "stuff" it.

3. E-mail the compressed folder.

Fonts are particularly difficult to deal with over e-mail, especially when going from PC to MAC. Whenever possible, convert your fonts to paths before e-mailing.

Typesetting

All prices include four lines of typeset copy. We will do the typesetting for you. We have a large font library and can often match your chosen font (or get very close). However, we cannot guarantee that we will have the exact font you want.

Proofs

Upon request, one laser print proof showing the position of your copy is available at no additional charge. Allow five working days to receive your proof. Proofs must be responded to by phone within two days of receipt. Normal production time begins upon our receipt of your approval.
